INTRODUCTION

 

Background

This committee was set up subsequent to the First Malaysia District Water Engineers, Seminar held on 6 to 8 March 1989 in the Public Works Institute, Malaysia. The participants of this seminar unanimously agreed to form the Malaysian District Water Engineers Action Committee, with the objective of coordinating and enhancing the activities of district water engineers throughout the country.
 
Objective
To generate ideas and feedback from all districts enhance and set up a more organised and effective water supply management system
 
Functions
The functions of this committee are as follows:
1. To identify and propose solutions for problems related to the supply of water,
2. To gather and disseminate information,
3. To submit proposals to organise and standardise regulations pertaining to water supply,
4. To submit resolutions to the management for consideration and implementation,
5. To propose activities to enhance departmental image and foster closer ties between the department and the public,
6. To exchange information and share experience among district water engineers to promote mutual learning.


To achieve the above objective and functions, the committee secretariat intersified activities such as meetings, conferences, workshops, study and information committees as well as appropriate technical committees annually.
 
In this regard, the Malaysia District Water Engineers’ Annual Meeting was held. The main aim was to expose all water engineers to the latest information in the national water industry apart from sharing experience and fostering ties.
